The Friends of the Polk County Fairgrounds is the political action committee supporting Measure 27‑149, the levy to keep the Polk County Fairgrounds open. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers this website and our text message program.
Information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us, plus basic technical data your browser sends automatically.
- Contact information you enter on our form: your name, email address, phone number, and street address and city.
- Text message consent: if you give us your mobile number and opt in, we record that number along with the date and the wording of the consent you gave.
- How you want to help: whether you asked to endorse the levy, display a yard sign, volunteer, or receive updates, and whether you gave us permission to list your name publicly as a supporter.
- Device and usage data such as IP address, browser type, and which pages you viewed, which helps us keep the site working properly.
How we use your information
- To deliver and place the yard sign you requested.
- To contact you about volunteering, events, and the work of the campaign.
- To confirm you are a Polk County voter.
- To respond when you write to us with a question.
- To send campaign updates and voting reminders by email or text, where you have asked to receive them.
- To list your name publicly as a supporter, but only if you checked the box giving us permission.
- To meet reporting obligations under Oregon campaign finance law.
- To maintain and improve this website.
We do not sell your information
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third-party marketers or advertisers. Your mobile number and your consent to receive texts are never shared with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
We share information only with vendors who work on the campaign's behalf, such as our website host, email provider, text messaging platform, and contribution processor, and only so they can perform that work. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, including campaign finance reporting, or where it is necessary to protect the safety and rights of others.
Public supporters
Our sign-up form asks whether we may use your name as a supporter. If you check that box, we may list your name in campaign materials, in the voters' pamphlet, or on this website. We publish your name only — never your address, email address, or phone number. If you did not check the box, we will not list you. You can change your mind at any time by writing to us.
Text messages
Our full Text Message Terms & Conditions govern this program. If you give us your mobile number and check the text message opt-in box, we may send you campaign updates, volunteer requests, event reminders, and voting deadlines. Opting in is entirely optional and is never required in order to volunteer, request a yard sign, endorse the measure, or contribute.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Stopping messages
Reply STOP to any message to be removed from our text list. You will receive one confirmation message and then no further messages unless you sign up again.
Getting help
Reply HELP to any message, or contact the campaign at info@savepolkfairgrounds.com.
Every campaign email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also write to us and we will take you off the list.
Contributions
Contributions to the campaign are processed by Anedot, an outside service with its own privacy policy and terms. We never see or store your full card or bank account details. Oregon law requires us to collect and report the name, address, occupation, and employer of contributors above certain thresholds, and those reports become public records filed with the Oregon Secretary of State.
Cookies and analytics
This site may use cookies and similar tools to remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. Most browsers let you refuse cookies or delete existing ones through their settings. Turning cookies off may affect how parts of the site work.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information you give us, and we limit access to the volunteers and staff who need it to do their work. No website or electronic transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
Our site links to outside services, including our contribution processor and news articles published by other organizations. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to read them before providing information.
Your choices
You may ask us to correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you. Write to us using the details below and we will honor the request, except where Oregon campaign finance law requires us to retain certain records.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
